Top 10: Bands

For today’s Top 10 Tuesday I’m going for my Top 10 Bands. This was both parts easy and hard at the same time. It was easy to list the bands I love. It was challenging to narrow down the list. What I ended up doing is assessing each band on three different criteria.

  • When they come on the radio / Spotify do I skip or listen, no matter what song? This is the biggest checkbox. For each artist I listed, they have only 1 or 2 songs max that I would ever intentionally skip. I listen to every album all the way through without the desire to skip anything.
  • How loud do I listen to them? The louder the better.
  • How do they make me feel? My emotional connection to them has to be strong.

The 10 bands below checked off every box and earned the right to be part of my top bands. They have stood the test of time and my eardrums will never be the same because of them. May you enjoy their sweet serenade as well.

Linkin Park

Linkin Park has long been my all-time favorite band. Since their release of Hybrid Theory in 2000 until now, I still listen to every album and song without ever having an urge to skip a song. Listening to LP got me through some tough years in my life.

Demon Hunter

Demon Hunter is my favorite metal band. What makes them so great is their heavy, melodic sound combined with deep lyrics with a few ballads tossed in for good measure.

Breaking Benjamin

Breaking Benjamin is another band that I have listened too since their first album, Saturate, dropped in 2002. They consistently put out top-notch albums that I listen to over and over.

Disturbed

Disturbed has definitely evolved over the years. Their sound is incredibly unique and easily recognizable. They also put out some of the best, incredible cover songs over the years.

Thousand Foot Krutch

Thousand Foot Krutch, better known as TFK, is my go-to for Christian hard rock. Their lyrics are meaningful, powerful and certainly do not tiptoe around their beliefs. My whole family loves their songs.

Family Force 5

FF5 is a crazy, fun, energetic band. While a majority of their songs are about dancing and disco, watch out, because they will quickly catch you off guard with their deep meaningful songs.

Journey

Not sure Journey requires any explanation. It’s Journey.

P.O.D.

P.O.D. is old skool nu metal. They have been rocking my ears for years. If you want to discuss an evolution of sound, every album they put out is drastically different from the ones before it.

Wage War

Wage War is the youngest and least known of the bands I listed. However, that doesn’t make them any less of a favorite. They are heavy rockers that have this sound that grabs your face and begs you turn it up louder.
